Do these processors require a graphics port on the back of the desktop boards? Usually these processors will be matched with a desktop board that has an integrated graphics port on the back as this is usually the lowest cost option. These processors will work with a discrete graphics card provided you use the card's graphics port and chipset and bios support is available from the desktop board manufacturer.
If I install one of the processors listed in the table above in an Intel® P55 chipset-based system, will it work? It will, provided you have a discrete graphics card inserted in the system and you use that graphics port. The integrated graphics on the processor will not work due to an absence of a graphics port on your desktop board.
The system should automatically default to the discrete graphics port. You also need to verify with the desktop board manufacturer that the processor is supported in the system bios.
If I install an Intel® Core™ i7-800/i5-700 processor series in an Intel® H55 chipset-based system, an Intel® H57 chipset-based system, or Intel® Q57 chipset-based system, will it work? It will, provided you have a discrete graphics card inserted in the system and you use that graphics port. The graphics port on the back of these desktop boards will not work since these processors do not contain integrated graphics.
The system should automatically default to the discrete graphics port. You also need to verify with the desktop board manufacturer that the processor is supported in the system bios.
Where can I find out if my Intel® Desktop Board is compatible with these processors? Visit the Intel® Processors and Boards Compatibility Tool to see which Intel® desktop board is compatible with your processor.
Where can I get integrated graphics drivers for the processors listed in the table above? There are several options in regard to downloading these drivers. The first two involve the Intel® Driver Update Utility. When you run this utility, it informs you if you have the current Intel® graphics drivers or not.
For graphics drivers use the Intel® Graphics Driver Update Utility. For all Intel® drivers use the Intel® Driver Update Utility. The global version of Intel® Driver Update Utility not only incorporates an analysis of graphics drivers, but includes an analysis on other drivers such as audio and network drivers that come with the Intel® desktop boards.
What if I don't want to use the Intel® Driver Update Utility? You may download the drivers direct at these locations:
