Collective participation is the part of Essential Computing that uses technology in our social lives to turn our on-line connections into action. Participation is about enabling people to come together to achieve goals that separately they could not achieve. Technological evolution in on-line connection ultimately affects human organization. This article provides background on what we mean by participation, and why it is emerging now.
